‘Winter Comfort Bowl’—Just 5 ingredients. I make this every December because it’s impossibly easy and always comforting.
Instructions
1. Cook the Pasta:
-
Cook the fettuccine in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
2. Create the Sauce:
-
In your slow cooker, combine the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, and unsalted butter.
3. Melt and Combine:
-
Cover and set the slow cooker to LOW. Heat for 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally, until the butter has melted and the sauce is smooth and heated through.
4. Combine and Serve:
-
Add the cooked, drained fettuccine to the slow cooker with the creamy sauce. Gently toss until every strand is evenly coated.
-
Season generously with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately for the best, creamiest texture.
Variations & Tips
-
Add Protein: Stir in cooked, shredded chicken or sautéed shrimp for a heartier main course.
-
Boost Veggies: For added color and nutrition, fold in a couple of handfuls of fresh spinach or ½ cup of thawed frozen peas during the last few minutes in the slow cooker, just until wilted.
-
Elevate the Flavor: A squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a pinch of nutmeg can brighten and deepen the sauce beautifully.
-
A Touch of Heat: For those who enjoy a little spice, a dash of red pepper flakes is the perfect finish.
