Grilled French Bread Pizza Supreme

Instructions

  1. Prep the Grill: Preheat your grill to low heat, aiming for an indirect heat zone (around 350-400°F / 175-200°C). If using a gas grill, turn off the center burners or the burners on one side. For charcoal, push the coals to one side.

  2. Prepare the Bread: Slice the French bread in half lengthwise to create two long, flat halves. Place each half on a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, leaving enough foil around the edges to create a loose tent.

  3. Build the Pizzas: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Sprinkle the minced garlic over the sauce, then top with the shredded mozzarella cheese. Layer on the pepperoni, cooked Italian sausage, olives, diced peppers, and onions.

  4. Grill: Carefully transfer the foil-wrapped pizzas to the grill over indirect heat (the cooler zone where there are no direct flames below). Close the lid and grill for 8-12 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are crisp.

  5. Serve: Using oven mitts, carefully remove the pizzas from the grill. Slide them onto a cutting board, garnish generously with grated Parmesan cheese, slice, and serve immediately!

Chef’s Notes:

  • Don’t Burn the Bottom: Keeping the grill on low and using indirect heat is crucial to prevent the bottom of the bread from burning before the cheese melts.

  • Customize Your Toppings: Feel free to get creative! Add mushrooms, jalapeños, or your other favorite pizza toppings.

  • Make it Ahead: You can prep the toppings in advance for an even quicker assembly when you’re ready to grill.
