Instructions:
-
Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the pork chops in a single layer in a 9×13-inch baking dish. They can be touching, but try not to overlap them.
-
Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the sour cream and the French onion dip mix. Stir until well blended.
-
Assemble the Dish: Using a rubber spatula, spread the sour cream mixture evenly over the pork chops, making sure to cover the entire surface of each chop. Sprinkle the crispy fried onions in an even layer over the top.
-
Bake: Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20-30 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and the onions are golden. Note: The final baking time will depend on the thickness of your pork chops.
Tips & Notes:
-
No need for extra salt: The French onion dip mix provides plenty of seasoning, so there’s no need to pre-season the pork.
-
Serving suggestions: This dish pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, steamed vegetables, or a simple side salad. Applesauce is also a classic and delicious accompaniment.
-
For thinner chops: If your pork chops are very thin, check for doneness at the 20-minute mark after removing the foil to prevent them from drying out.
