Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer until smooth. Lower speed and mix in salt, vanilla, flour, and pecans.

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and arrange on the baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.

Bake for 10–12 minutes, until set but not browned. Watch carefully to avoid overbaking.

First sugar coating: While cookies are still warm, gently roll them in powdered sugar. Place on cooling racks.

Second sugar coating: Once completely cooled, roll again in powdered sugar for a snowy finish.
